Southwest Archery 60 inch Tigershark

Southwest Archery Tigershark

First shot dead on target. I don’t know if it gets more satisfying than that, or that the next shot landed right next to the first. I picked up this bow with a draw weight of 25 lbs. The Tigershark's riser measures 19 inches with a full bow length of 60 inches. The draw weight measured 33.36 lbs at a 31 inch draw length.

This bow was $154 and came in a ready to shoot kit, well almost, the kit does not come with arrows.

This bow is fairly quiet shooter without felt on the limbs or fur in the draw string. I instantly found my groove shooting this bow within the first set of arrows. As I kept shooting, my groupings kept shrinking in size. My first day of shooting this bow made it difficult to put down. Adding an arrow knock on the draw string sure made it easier to keep the arrows shooting in line quickly.

If you want you can add a stabilizer, hand strap, and sights to this bow. I never did add any extras onto this bow, I did add silencers to the string and added strips of felt on the limbs to reduces the noise. Seems like a decibel reader may be next on my gadgets to add to my testing. If I do get one, I’lll make sure to test it out on this bow first and add my results later.

I have been shooting best with 700 spine carbon arrows I made. They’ve been out performing most of the other arrows I have. Through the chronograph I tested 4 different arrows. 500 spine fiberglass which hit 146 FPS. The 700 spine carbon flew at 161 fps, next I shot 800 spine fiberglass which was slower at 130 FPS. Last was 1000 spine carbon arrows that came in at 163 FPS.

The look of the riser though, from the side it’s really pretty, but the back side, that I get to look at while I draw and aim it does catch my eye too much and throws me off. It looks like it is made of stacks of wood layers with a staggered cut. For me, it's more of a distraction, my eyes keep wanting to focus on the lines and layers. Weird huh, I can’t quite explain it, I like the way this bow shoots, I just can’t get past it’s looks.

I know it’s just nit picking. This bow was hard to put down, it is so enjoyable, but it isn't one I'll be showing off to my friends. Then again, this is my journey and I'm allowed my own opinions, just like anyone else.

With that said, I keep picking up this bow and shooting it. It is a relaxing bow to shoot. There is something about it that makes it hard to put down. Maybe I'll paint the back of the riser a solid color so I won’t be looking at it all the time.
